Recently, we were contacted by a cardiac patient about teaching her family CPR at her private residence. I had never met the person, but she seemed very enthusiastic and interested in her family and friends to learn CPR. I felt this was a perfect opportunity for us. Most cardiac arrests, over 80%, occur in a private residence. A prior cardiac patient is at higher risk for a cardiac arrest than someone who has never had a cardiac event. Teaching the friends and family of a prior cardiac patient hands only CPR is focus of our foundation.
Tonight we were welcomed into a private residence and 15 more people were taught the basic life saving skill of hands-only CPR. Many questions were answered and it was a great experience for everyone involved. Afterward the host said she is still trying to figure out how she can help educate about cardiac disease. She has done much in our community already to educate about heart disease. Tonight, she helped to teach some of the most important people in her life a lifesaving cardiac skill.
We believe our mission to improve survival from cardiac arrest is achievable. If there is a group of 15-20 people gathered and want educated about cardiac arrest, we will come and teach hands-only CPR for free in a 30 minute time frame. Contact us through our website to schedule a free hands only CPR class.
