Start the Heart Foundation has been working with Neal Robertson, organizer of the Dirt Bowl, and his staff closely this year to perform several brief public demonstrations of hands only CPR during the basketball tournament. The Dirt Bowl is a large playground basketball tournament that is in its 45 year of existence. This tournament attracts some of the top basketball talent in the region to play and there is very much a carnival atmosphere at the park. Shawnee Park is the host of the tournament which is located on the West side of Jefferson County in Louisville, KY. This area of Louisville has an extremely high rate of cardiac arrests.
Neal understands the importance of what we are trying to do and has been great to work with for this event. We have been out to the tournament several times and given a 2-3 minute hands only CPR demonstration at half time of one of the tournament games. Check out our demonstration from yesterday.

Even brief exposures to hands only CPR instruction have been shown to be beneficial for educating the public on what to do in a cardiac arrest. We have done these brief demonstrations at several different venues; cycle cross racing, high school baseball games and now the Dirt Bowl.
If you have an event that you would like for us to come and do a demonstration please contact us through the website and we will get it scheduled.
