Local TV station WHAS 11 covers Start the Heart Foundation’s mission

November 17, 2014 by William Dillon

Last week local TV station WHAS 11 ran a story about Start the Heart Foundation’s mission to save lives through education and teaching of hands only CPR.  Rachel Platt, a veteran reporter and news anchor, came and covered one of our days teaching hands only CPR while we were at Western High School in Louisville.  Rachel was very interested in our organization and in getting the story and mission right.

She then came and interviewed Dr. William Dillon, founder and president of STHF, to find out how and why this organization was started and what it’s goal are going forward.  Lastly, Rachel Platt spoke with Mike and Lindsay Olges.  Mike had sudden cardiac arrest and was saved in part by the fast action and cool thinking of his wife Lindsay.  She called 911, started CPR and saved his life.

Here is a link to the story.  This 5 minute interview/story really captures what we are trying to do in Louisville.  Sadly, 90% of cardiac arrest victims in our community succumb to the event.  We are trying to change that.
